Besides promotion, recognition takes the form of many prizes and awards that are av ailable for outstanding performance. Our highest award is a jade ring. Our fo under, J.L. Kraft, had one of the largest personal collections of jade in this country. He established the Jade Ring Award to honor those employees who demonstrated unusual initiative and outstanding achievement. This is a cherished award and the ring is worn proudly by its recipients. There are other awards, such as prizes for outstanding performance on specific products and plaques for special merchandising achievement. We know that personal recognition must be provided at national, regional, and district levels. Each sales region, which encompasses from 9 to 14 sales districts,has specific recognition and award programs. District management hasthe flexibility to provide "on-the-spot" awards, such as a "night on the town" for the sales representative and spouse. We furnish cameras to each of our sales employees so that he cansupply us with photographs of outstanding in-store sales and merchandising activity. These photos, with credit to the person who took them, are published in our company magazine. The Kraftsman. providing national acknowledgement of outstanding sales and merchandising performance. Oursales people know that this magazine is circulated to all employees, including top corporate management.
